Jacob L. Kurtz

Jacob is a civil litigator and shareholder who routinely counsels business entities, business owners and members of the community as they resolve commercial and employment disputes. His professional experience in employment law is substantial, making him uniquely qualified to understand the needs of his clients while extending them time and money-saving solutions. 

Jacob's areas of specialty include, but are not limited to, allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour violations, violations of the FMLA and violations of the FCRA. He further represents clients in matters involving construction defects, professional liability, product liability, class action defense, catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death. In addition to securing multiple defense verdicts at trial, Jacob has also recovered millions of dollars for his clients. 

Since 2020, Jacob has consistently been named a Super Lawyer - Rising Star for Litigation, a distinction given to only 2.5% of attorneys in Missouri and Kansas. He has also been recognized by his peers as a Top 10 Business Litigation Attorney in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Jacob graduated from Missouri State University with a bachelor of arts in political science before attending the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law. While studying law, Jacob was heavily involved with student publications. In addition to writing for the Urban Lawyer, he served as comment editor for the University of Missouri at Kansas City Law Review, a general-interest academic legal journal for aspiring attorneys. 

A native Missourian and avid outdoorsman, Jacob currently resides in Parkville, Missouri with his wife and three children. When not in the courtroom, you will find Jacob and his family on their next outdoor adventure.
